Tristan takes first race win of 2010 and overall points lead at CKI Florida winter cup of the KF3 class.  The KF3 forerunner and number one plate holder proved his mark as he clocked the pole position on Saturday and continued through the day with dominating winning performances in both the pre-final and final.  On Sunday, DeGrand looked poised for a repeat as the champion took a solid second place in wet weather qualifying.  With a dry track for the pre-final and final, DeGrand looked to have the speed for a repeat; however a carburetor malfunction sidelined his hopes for the perfect weekend.  At the conclusion, Tristan still holds the top spot in the championship chase.

This weekend (January 29-31) Tristan is racing in Homestead Miami Florida for the first annual Championship Karting International Florida Cup presented by Supertune USA and DeFrancesco Racing.

The 2009 CKI Champion will display a new look and new number (see picture below).   Tristan joined his familiar J3 Competition team for testing on Wednesday and Thursday in preparation for this weekend’s event.

Tristan hasn’t been in the kart since November’s Las Vegas Supernationals.  During the month of December he spent 2 days in a Skip Barber Formula car school.  He was slated to take part in the Skip Barber karting shootout. However after discussions for the 2010 season, Tristan did not take part.

The 13- year olds primary focus for 2010 will again be in karting.  Look for a complete schedule coming soon.  Plus an in-car camera view from Tristan’s car at the Skip Barber racing school.

Viewers wishing to watch live action this weekend from the Championship Karting international Florida Cup can do so by clicking on the CKI Florida Cup LIVE button on ChampionshipKartRacing.com anytime throughout the event weekend.
