Tristan was left to ponder what might have been after carburetion issues plagued his progress during the 13th annual Super Nationals in Las Vegas.
The 2009, 2x champion- endured a tough time eventually leaving the A-main with a punctured radiator four laps from the end while running in the top ten. “I spent most of the sessions going backwards early on and didn’t know why. Towards the end of the sessions, the issue worked itself out and my pace was good. “He said.
“Despite the issue, I was able to put in a fast lap late in qualifying to place 3rd out of 66. Each heat race and during the final I went backwards at the start. Half way during each session, I moved forward finishing 4th, 4th and 16th in the three heat races. This was disappointing since I had started on the front row for each heat race. The final, was no different. I tried to defend my 10th starting position early on waiting for the kart. Once the kart came in, I began moving forward. With a top five in site my race ended early. I was displayed the black and orange flag due to a radiator leak caused by earlier contact. This was not the way I wanted to end the season. “He said afterwards.
Tristan will bounce back this coming weekend (Dec .18/19) trading in his go-kart for a 150-HP open wheel car. “I really had a good time driving these cars last month in Sebring, and can’t wait to get back in the seat in the Florida sun”. This weekend Tristan will drive the full track layout for two days at Sebring for the Skip Barber advanced school. Long time friend and formula Ford driver Tony Coello will extend his expertise as he joins Tristan as a driver coach this weekend.
